Edmonton Oilers (-110) vs. St. Louis Blues (-110) Total: 6.5 (O -118, U -104)

It hasn’t been a banner start to the regular season for the Edmonton Oilers after making an appearance in the Western Conference Finals last year. Still, they improved to 3-3 with an impressive victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Blues have had a very nice start in a limited sample size, posting a 3-1 record. There have been some good things from both teams early, but the one thing that stands out is the quality of goaltending the Blues have gotten, which has seen them allow just nine goals through four games.

Looking toward the expected starting goalies, the Oilers should continue to turn to their prized offseason free agent signing, Jack Campbell, while the Blues should do the same with Jordan Binnington. The Oilers’ new netminder has posted a 3-2 record with a .895 save percentage, while Binnington has been great, posting a 3-0 record combined with a .940 save percentage. This certainly has the potential to be an excellent goalie matchup on paper, but you also need to consider that there’s plenty of offensive firepower on both sides too.

The Blues have looked far more impressive and well-coached than the Oilers have. The Blues are coming off their worst performance of the season, and it’s hard to see such a strong group laying an egg two games in a row. There should be some value present in this matchup from the home side, who’ve been getting much better goaltending and deserve to be targeted on the moneyline tonight at -110.

Best Bet: Blues moneyline (-102)

With how strong the Blues have looked defensively and an Oilers team looking to play more responsibly, don’t be surprised if this contest doesn’t produce a ton of offensive fireworks. The Oilers are coming off allowing just five goals over their last two games, while the Blues have been a defensive machine. There’s likely some solid value going unnoticed on this slate. It’s hard to bet the under for an Oilers game, but this atmosphere may not see many goals scored, especially with the Blues controlling the matchups. As a result, look toward the under 6.5 tonight at -118

Best Bet: Under 6.5 (-118)

When you look at the Edmonton Oilers, it’s hard to avoid targeting the two elite talents they boast up front. Still, this should be a matchup with plenty of back-and-forth play, so there should be some space on the ice for some of the Oilers’ star players to make a difference. Even though we’re not expecting a high-scoring affair between the Blues and Oilers, that doesn’t mean a player like Leon Draisaitl can’t get on the score sheet. The German forward has recorded three goals and eight assists through six games, but he has more to give on the goal-scoring side of the equation. There’s likely some solid value in targeting him to score tonight, sitting in plus-money territory at +122.

Best Prop: Leon Draisaitl Over 0.5 Goals (+122)
