Arsenal’s coaching staff have changed training for £250k-a-week player after conversation
Arsenal have changed training to get the maximum out of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, the Athletic report.
Aubameyang suffered his worst season in an Arsenal shirt last term, as he barely made it into double figures for goals.
Over the summer Mikel Arteta and Arsenal’s coaching staff decided that more could be done at London Colney to get the best out of him.
As a result they sat down with the 32-year-old to discuss a switch to his personal training, which was designed to ‘re-engage’ and ‘re-energise’ him.
The specific changes that Arsenal made are not named, but whatever the coaching staff felt needed altering has clearly worked.
Aubameyang has been a key presence for the Gunners this term and seems to be firmly buying into Arteta’s project.
Aubameyang has pressed with more intensity than ever seen before, but his attacking output has still been strong.
His willingness to press from the front has helped Arsenal in a defensive sense and his partnership with Alexandre Lacazette seems to be getting back to its very best again.
The Gunners are now unbeaten in 10 games, which is a marked improvement on their early season form.
Arsenal now face a real test on Saturday, when they will travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool, knowing that a victory will lift them above Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Premier League standings.
