‘We want more’ – Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker makes unprecedented trophy claim
Alisson Becker says Liverpool ‘want more’ than just the Premier League title this season.
The Reds won the league in 2020 but were unable to defend their crown last season amid a defensive injury crisis.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have lost just one game so far this campaign, against West Ham last weekend, and go into the international break four points behind leaders Chelsea.
Liverpool will be desperate to pip Chelsea and Manchester City to top spot – especially as they were unable to celebrate their historic 2019-20 success in front of supporters.
But Alisson insists the Reds also targeting success in every competition they’re in.
“It’s about more than that, to be honest. We want more,” the goalkeeper told the official Liverpool FC magazine .
“Of course we want to win all the tournaments that we play in. We want to win the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup – all the tournaments that it is possible for us to play in.
“This should be the goal and the target for everybody for a team like us.
“But we have to take it game by game and we must be focused on our jobs to do 100 per cent what we have to do.”
Liverpool have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League with two games to spare.
A League Cup quarter-final clash against Leicester City looms next month and their FA Cup campaign kick-starts with a third-round tie in the New Year.
The Reds memorably won the Champions League in Madrid in 2019 but they haven’t lifted the League Cup since 2012 and the FA Cup since 2006.
No English club side has ever won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup in the same season.
