Matteo Guendouzi has uploaded a photo that’ll interest a lot of Arsenal fans.

Arsenal loaned the 22-year-old to Marseille this past summer and to say Guendouzi has impressed back in France would be an understatement.

The former Lorient midfielder, a £7 million signing by the Gunners in 2018, has scored three and set up three in 17 games for the Ligue 1 giants this season.

His form has resulted in Guendouzi making a name for himself on the international scene with France’s senior squad.

And Guendouzi’s latest offering on Twitter will make some Arsenal fans – and perhaps Mikel Arteta – feel a bit of regret.

The curly-haired enigma posted a photograph alongside some stars of Didier Deschamps’s squad – including Kylian Mbappe and N’Golo Kante.

Regret?

If Guendouzi is good enough to share a squad with the likes of Kante and Mbappe then it makes you wonder why Arsenal boss Arteta didn’t keep him around.

Yes, there’s well-documented attitude problems which Arteta has an issue with but, even still, this is a young player and one with kinks to iron out.

And instead of giving up on the player, shipping him off to France, perhaps it was more beneficial for the Spaniard to work through the problems.

Arteta might not regret loaning Guendouzi out, but he must surely regret that things couldn’t have been different.

Because as far as football goes, this is a fine player and his presence alongside other superstars proves as much.
