PSG women’s star Diallo in custody for ‘hiring masked men to ATTACK and injure team-mate with iron bar to win her place’
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN have confirmed star Aminata Diallo is in police custody as they condemned a shocking attack on her team-mate Kheira Hamraoui with an iron bar by masked men.
L’Equipe broke the stunning news this morning that 31-year-old French star Hamraoui was dragged out of her car by two masked men before they punched, kicked and attacked her with an iron bar in what was thought to be a deliberate attempt to stop her playing.
News of the incident caused outrage but now PSG have announced that 26-year-old Diallo – a rival for the holding position – was arrested by Paris police this morning.
PSG also confirmed an incident had taken place.
A club statement said: “Paris Saint-Germain takes note of Aminata Diallo’s police custody this morning by the Versailles SRPJ as part of the procedure opened following an assault last Thursday evening against club players.
“Paris Saint-Germain strongly condemns the violence committed.
“Since Thursday evening November 4, the club has taken all the necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being and safety of its players.
“Paris Saint-Germain is working with the Versailles SRPJ to shed light on the facts. The club is attentive to the progress of the procedure and will study the follow-up to be given to it.”
Hamraoui, who only joined PSG from Barcelona in July, was reportedly the victim of an ambush on November 4 while returning from a party organised by the club.
She was reportedly travelling with two team-mates, one of which was Diallo, who was at the wheel of the car at the time of the attack.
Several individuals then allegedly attacked the vehicle in the French capital, with one getting inside the motor.
Hamraoui was then reportedly hit several times with an iron bar and has had to receive several stitches in her legs and hands due to the damage she suffered.
Diallo, who has been involved in a fierce battle with Hamraoui for a first-team spot, was taken in by police this morning from her home over her alleged involvement in organising the attack.
The star, who has been at PSG since 2016, has spent time on loan at Utah Royals and Atletico Madrid over the past two years.
