Liverpool reportedly in pole position to land Gleison Bremer
Liverpool are reportedly in pole position to land Torino defender Gleison Bremer and are ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure his signature.
Last season, Jurgen Klopp was forced to navigate a nightmarish injury crisis but after returns and the purchase of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig, the German has a full complement at the back.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez returned from long-term injury knees while Joel Matip was missing from the end of January until the end of the season. But he has been outstanding for most of this campaign.
According to Torino Granata, Liverpool are considering signing another central defender and are expected to land the Brazilian Gleison Bremer.
Signing a new centre back should not be a priority for Liverpool and, with Bremer, valued at £13.5m, the Reds should consider spending those funds elsewhere.
A central midfielder to replace Georginio Wijnaldum is more important as is the need for a high quality, versatile winger to provide cover for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah when they leave for AFCON in the New Year.
Bremer is a fantastic defender and he has been a star performer for Torino this season. However, with Liverpool’s impressive defensive depth, they have no need for the 24-year-old if they’re not going to sell a centre-back, which is unlikely.
