Italian Media Highlight Inter’s Recent Defensive Improvements Under Simone Inzaghi Being Better Than Antonia Conte
Inter have made defensive improvements in recent matches which have seen their record since the start of the season be even better than it had been at this point last campaign under Antonio Conte.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who highlight how the adjustments made by coach Simone Inzaghi and the team have meant that the team have conceded fewer goals than last season in both Serie A and the Champions League.
Inter’s scoring form has never been in question this season, but their ability to prevent the concession of goals has looked a worry at earlier points in the campaign.
However, Inzaghi looks to have re-tooled his team with a focus on defensive improvement, and his efforts are getting results.
The Nerazzurri still play with a fairly high line defensively, suiting the characteristics of main striker Edin Dzeko, but they have looked more compact and better at preventing dangerous attacking moves by opponents as the season has gone on.
Since the 3-1 loss away to Lazio just before the international break, the Nerazzurri have not conceded more than one goal in a match, and from open play their record looks even better.
This improvement has been enough to yield a better record than the team had last season, and could be a positive sign regarding their Scudetto defense.
