Ramsey could be released with Newcastle and Everton keen
CalcioMercato say Juventus could decide to rip up Aaron Ramsey’s £165k-a-week contract – after Newcastle and Everton have recently been linked.
Ramsey, 30, has endured a difficult spell in Italy with the Old Lady. Joining the club on a free from Arsenal in 2019, he has played 70 times.
But in that time, he has only scored six goals, laying on six assists. A stark contrast to his form at Arsenal, having a hand in 130 during 371 games.
This season, his form has got worse. Under the return of Max Allegri, Ramsey has played just five times – a total of just 112 minutes this term.
Ramsey has a contract at Juventus until the summer of 2023. Given his large wages, he might want to stay at the Old Lady and bring a cheque in.
But Ramsey might also want to leave. Juventus are certainly looking at the latter, and might look to agree a deal to rip up Ramsey’s contract early.
Ramsey contract: Newcastle, Everton and Palace for Wales star?
Ramsey needs to return to the Premier League and join a club where he will play week in, week out. His irregular Juve game time does him no favours.
Palace do need another midfielder, but bringing in Ramsey would surely stunt the excellent progress of on-loan Chelsea star Conor Gallagher.
At Everton, again, they need a 10 – but Abdoulaye Doucoure has been excellent. Perhaps Ramsey can play alongside Doucoure.
But it is at Newcastle where he would be needed most – under new gaffer Eddie Howe. If there was ever a signing to excite fans, this would be it.
