Xavi Barcelona

An insight into the early transfer plans of incoming FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has been forthcoming on Friday.

Change at the helm

The subject of Xavi’s imminent arrival at the Camp Nou has of course proven headline news across the continent throughout the day thus far.

On the back of Ronald Koeman’s dismissal last week, former Blaugrana midfielder Xavi has since been identified as the sole managerial target of those in a position of power in the Catalan capital.

And, early on Friday, a breakthrough in Barca’s pursuit, much to the delight of the club’s fanbase, was finally found.

Taking to the club’s social media platforms, Qatari giants Al Sadd, with whom Xavi has spent the last couple of seasons earning his stripes on the sideline, confirmed that an agreement has been struck for their boss to return to the Camp Nou:

An official announcement on the part of the Blaugrana themselves is therefore expected at any moment, ahead of a potentially prosperous new era in Catalunya.

de Jong on the way out

And, as outlined above, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then the incoming Barca boss already appears to be hard at work running the rule over his soon-to-be squad of players.

This comes amid claims that Xavi has decided on his plans for a current member of the Blaugrana’s frontline.

The player in question? Luuk de Jong.

As per a report from Diario Sport, those in charge of transfers at the Camp Nou have been informed that de Jong can be moved on upon the opening of the January window.

One potential landing spot cited for the Dutchman, brought in to appease compatriot Koeman, is Sevilla, with de Jong currently on loan at Barcelona from the Andalusian outfit.
