Rumors: Call of Duty 2022 details have leaked, disclosing drug war plans and bloody battlegrounds

The Call of Duty game for this year, Vanguard, hasn’t even been released yet, but rumours about the 2022 game are already circulating. The advertisement would be “gritty and uncompromising,” drawing inspiration from films like Traffic, No Country for Old Men, and Sicario. The game may include a morality system similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, and the storey will reportedly include a new level of gore for the franchise. As previously reported, the 2022 game will be a follow-up to Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare, which focused on Colombian drug gangs in 2019.

The game is also said to have a “moral compass” system, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, in which key decisions can have an impact on later moments in the game. The story’s tagline appears to be “There are no winners in this story,” which could be a commentary on the drug war.

The Call of Duty game for 2022 is described as “grim” and “gruesome.” According to the report, enemies who are shot may not die immediately and may call out for their mothers, hallucinate, and convulse before succumbing to their wounds. According to the report, the gore is “realistic,” and bullet penetration will be determined by the calibre of the bullet. According to the leak, players can also apply pressure to wounds to stop the bleeding.

The leak also revealed some gameplay details. Weapons are said to jam during certain sequences to reflect how this can happen in real life. Furthermore, following “high-intensity” moments, characters will have more difficulty loading their weapons due to trembling hands, according to the report.

“Locales from Modern Warfare 2 will be expanded and stitched together to form a massive new map.” This is likely to include a significantly expanded version of Favela, as well as other classic arenas like Afghan, Quarry, Terminal, and Trailer Park,” according to VGC.

Separately, VGC reported that Warzone will get a new map inspired by Modern Warfare 2 in 2022, with “various classic points of interest.”

The rumoured new Warzone map for Modern Warfare 2’s release in 2022 may also include a new mode that combines PvP and PvE in a manner similar to Battlefield 2042’s Hazard Zone.

This mode, according to the report, will “see players battling against cartel AI with friends as they attempt to complete objective-based missions within the same MW2 Warzone map.”

This information has not been confirmed and is subject to change. Activision has been contacted by GameSpot in an attempt to obtain additional information. However, it is unlikely that the company will have anything to share for some time, as Activision is currently focused on launching Vanguard and expanding Warzone. Modern Warfare 2 was a huge success in 2019, and it ended with a strong tease for the next story, so it would be no surprise if Infinity Ward made a sequel.

Vanguard, a WWII game, will be released this Friday, November 5, and will include a campaign, zombies, and multiplayer. Caldera, the new Warzone Pacific map, will be available on December 2nd, with a brand-new location, dogfighting mode, and other features. All of this is taking place as Activision Blizzard is being sued by the state of California for gender discrimination and sexual harassment.
